Searles Bullheads





SEARLES - The Searles Bullheads over 35 baseball team won their home opener on Wednesday evening, defeating the St. Peter Saints by a score of 9-5. After winning three earlier road games, Bullheads are now 4-0 for the season, their best start since 2012, when they also started 4-0.


Searles began with a bang by scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning, despite having two runners forced out at home plate. Nate Gusso and Troy Kamm each singled, with Kamm putting up the first run on the new Searles Ballpark scoreboard on Pat Portner's bases loaded walk. Aaron Wilfahrt and Josh Brudelie had RBI singles, sandwiched around two St. Peter fielding errors.


St. Peter scored all five of their runs in the top of the second on three hits, two base on balls, and two Searles errors. The key hit in the inning was a two RBI single by the Saints Jeff Baron.


Craig Schmitz pitched the complete game victory for the Bullheads by shutting the door on St. Peter the rest of the game. Schmitz allowed just one more hit in the third inning and a base on balls in the 4th, retiring the final ten batters that he faced. For the game, Schmitz gave up the five runs on five hits, walked three and struck out five.


The Bullheads added single runs in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings. In the 3rd Wilfahrt doubled, went to third on an infield out, and scored on Brudelie's sac fly to center field. In the 4th Tommy Glaser singled, advanced on a groundout, and scored on Myke Hubbard's single. In the 5th Gusso scored on Corey Schaefer's hit.


Getting multiple hits in the Bullheads' 13 hit attack were Gusso 2 for 3, Kamm 3 for 4, Schaefer 2 for 2 with two walks, and Wilfarht 2 for 3. Defensively Searles played errorless ball after the second inning with center fielder Kamm making several outstanding catches.  



Searles Bullheads stay hot and move to 3-0 on the season with a 10-6 victory in Prior Lake friday night. The Bullheads scoring 10 runs on 13 hits lead by Craig Schmitz, Troy Kamm and Nate Gusso all going 2 for 4 with 2RBI each. Other hits were Corey Schaefer going 2 for 4 and Tommy Glaser going 1-4 with an RBI. The Mariners tallied 6 runs on 5 hits with 11 walks given up by Bullhead pitchers Aaron Wilfarht and Nate Gusso. The Bullheads entertain St. Peter in Searles Wednesday night 8 pm for their first home game.


The Searles Bullheads continued their winning ways by beating the Southwest Outlaws Sunday 4-2 in Lake Crystal Sunday. Craig Schmitz threw a solid 5 innings and giving up one run. Our closer Troy Kamm came in relief for the last two innings giving up one run on one hit. In the 4th Tommy Glaser got on with an error and Jeremy Drexler followed with a bunt for a base hit. Then Mike Hubbard drilled a two run double to score Drexler and Glaser, making the score 3-1. In the top of the fifth Jason Schmitz hit his second double and scored on Troy Kamm's single, making the score 4-2ame coming up this Saturday the 13th in Prior Lake vs The Pacers at 6pm Memorial Field.


Searles Bullheads opened their season Friday night in Jordan with a 15-4 win against the Jordan Ahlers. Bullheads were lead by Corey Schaefer going 3-4 with 3 RBI also Jeremy Drexler going 3-5 and 2 RBI. Josh Brudelie also had a double in the 9 hit attack. Bullhead pitchers gave up 6 hits. Pitchers were Nate Gusso, Jeremy Drexler and Troy(Goose Gossage)Kamm, who struck out 4 batters in the final two innings. Jordan Pitchers gave up 14 walks including 3 batters HBP. The Bullheads play in Lake Crystal Sunday at 2pm against the Southwest Outlaws.
